Limited Liability Guaranty

  Veterinary medical expenses up to the buyer's cost of the pet which is defined as the net cost of the pet, including delivery, vaccinations/handling, microchip charge and pedigree charges related to acquiring the animal.

  Crated charges on air customers are excluded.  A $25 credit allowance in lieu of air freight charges is applicable for air customers.

  Death resulting from a covered illness, the maximum benefit will be the buyer's cost, plus any medical expenses incurred to treat the pet prior to death.

1. Hereditary Conditions-- are covered for up to 1 year of age for any hereditary condition that affects the general health and day-to-day life of the pet excluding the exceptions that are covered separately under this limited liability guaranty specifically described with .  First symptom phone, fax notification applies!

2. Canine Parvovirus and Distemper Virus--up to 14 days after arrival date.  First symptom phone, fax notification applies!

3. Respiratory Infections--are covered up to 14 days after arrival providing that the infection is serious enough to require hospitalization.   The guaranty will pay the related hospitalization expenses up to the Kennels cost of the pet*.  Minor infections that do not require hospitalization are not covered.   First symptom phone, fax notification  to Wizard of Claws applies! 
   First symptom phone, fax notification will be considered the date of first symptom.  To avoid dispute you must retain fax confirmation in the event of a lost document.  Without required notification within the appropriate time the claim will not be eligible for credit.

4. Fungal Infections/Ringworm-- up to 14 days after arrival date.  First symptom phone, fax notification applies! 
5. Generalized Demodicosis--Wizard of Claws covers up to 3 years of age and substantiated by a licensed veterinarian.  At the option of Wizard of Claws, we may request close-up photos of the pet.  Localized demodicosis is easily treated and is covered under this guarantee to reasonable veterinary expenses.  First symptom phone, fax notification applies!
6. Hypoglycemia--Wizard of Claws up to 24 hours after arrival date.  We recommend that you do not purchase toy breeds if you are not equipped to handle this challenge.   First symptom phone, fax notification applies!
7. Monorchid/Cryptorchid Puppies--This condition must be diagnosed during the initial veterinary examination since it is the policy of Wizard of Claws not to ship any puppy with this condition.  Reasonable veterinary expenses will be benefited for the neutering procedure.  First symptom phone, fax notification applies!
8. Hernia Repairs--This condition must be diagnosed during the initial veterinary examination since it is the policy of Wizard of Claws to repair any puppy with this condition prior to shipment.  Reasonable veterinary expenses will be benefited for the repair.  First symptom fax notification applies!
9. Stenotic Nares--This condition must be diagnosed during the initial veterinary examination since it is the policy of Wizard of Claws not to ship any puppy with this condition.  Reasonable veterinary expenses will be benefited for the procedure.  First symptom phone, fax notification applies!
10. Luxating Patellas-- Luxating patellas must be diagnosed as hereditary during initial veterinary examination and reported within 72 hours of arrival.  Due to the many factors that can affect this condition, we cannot be responsible for luxating patellas that are not evident at the time of arrival or initial veterinary examination within 72 hours of arrival.  First symptom phone, fax notification applies!
11. Entropion and Cherry Eye--are covered for 14 days after arrival to the Kennel with reasonable veterinary expenses allowable per eye.  First symptom phone, fax notification applies!
12. Deafness--this condition is covered for 14 days after arrival at the Kennel.  First symptom phone, fax notification applies!
13. Off Bites--this condition must be diagnosed on the initial veterinary examination and reported within 72 hours after arrival.  Small breeds with 1/8" or less under bite and large breeds with a 1/4" or less under bite when the standard allows an under bite are not eligible for credit.  Overbites equal to or less than 1/8" are not eligible for credit.  Malocclusions are not eligible for credit and do not accurately reflect the occlusion of the permanent teeth.  First symptom phone, fax notification applies!
14. Open Fontanel-- This condition is common in some breeds and is partially responsible for certain breeds desired characteristics.  We provides a lifetime guaranty against hydrocephalus.  This should alleviate any concerns related to open fontanel.  In addition, this condition is always disclosed to the buyer at the time of purchase.  First symptom phone, fax notification applies!
15. Seizures--Most seizures are diagnosed as idiopathic epilepsy (diagnosed being genetic not trauma) and not any specific condition that can be identified as an underling cause.  This condition will be covered for one year after arrival at the Kennel and only when it is serious enough to require daily medication to control the seizures.  First symptom phone, fax notification applies!
16. Hygromas--This condition is not covered under this guaranty since it is almost always the result of large and giant breed dogs with inadequate padding with respect to the dog's bedding.
17. Anesthetic Deaths--Anytime an animal undergoes anesthesia, the owner and veterinarian must assume some liability.  Many times anesthetic deaths go without a specific diagnosis due to the many variables that are involved.
18. Heart Murmurs--All heart murmurs should be diagnosed during the initial veterinary examination, since it is the policy of Wizard of Claws not to ship any puppies with this condition.  Heart murmurs can occur for many reasons that are never of any consequence to the pet or the pet's quality of life.  Any other heart murmur that is diagnosed after the initial veterinary examination must be affecting the day-to-day life of the pet and require daily medication to qualify for the guaranty.
19. Osteochondrosis Dessicans (OCD)--This condition is considered a developmental disorder and is not considered a hereditary condition in dogs.   Therefore, it is not covered under the guaranty.
20. Registration--All the puppies supplied by Wizard of Claws are guaranteed to be eligible for registration with a recognized registry for a period of 120 days after arrival at the Kennel.  First symptom phone, fax notification applies!
21. Breed Standard--This is an area in which many determinations are often based on opinions rather than medical or scientific facts.  Wizard of Claws guarantees all the registered puppies it supplies to be reasonable representatives of the breeds they represent.  This can be difficult and sometimes impossible to evaluate at a young age.  Some exceptional puppies will fail to grow up to be reasonable representatives of their breeds.  Pictures are required for evaluation by Wizard of Claws breed standard committee.  If the representatives of Wizard of Claws agree that a puppy does not meet the requirements to be a reasonable representative of its breed, it will be eligible for a 50% credit.  This does not impair a puppy's ability to make an excellent companion.
22. Angular Limb Deformities due to Premature Closure of Distal Ulnar Physis--This condition is only considered hereditary in Skye Terriers.  Therefore, this will not be eligible for credit in any other breeds.

23. Behavior Problems--These problems are extremely complex in nature with many factors influencing the overall behavior of the pet.  The main influencer of behavior is the home environment and the owner's.  Due to all these factors, puppies will not be covered. 

CONDITIONS:

1. It is a condition of this guaranty that a licensed veterinarian perform a complete physical examination within 72 hours of arrival in the home.  Failure to have an examination performed within the time period will render this guaranty null and void.

2. Any condition (i.e. hip dysplasia) must be affecting the pet's day-to-day quality of life to be eligible for credit.  If it is not affecting the quality of life, the condition will be noted; and should that change, a credit may be issued at that time.

3. Although faxed copies are acceptable, we reserve the right to request original copies of all documents.  All claims must include the itemized statement and letter signed by the treating veterinarian's letterhead with a diagnosis and procedures performed.  Radiographs are required for any bone abnormalities such as hip dysplasia.  Photographs are required for demodicosis claims.  Mortality claims will require a necropsy to verify the exact cause of death.  Wizard of Claws must be notified prior to having any animal euthanized for any reason. Failure to do so will cause the claim to be ineligible for credit.

4. Guaranty claims need to be completely filled out in order for Wizard of Claws to process them in a timely fashion.  All mortality and hereditary claims must include all registration  papers or a spay/neuter certificate.

Our office must receive all completed claims within 14 days from the date of medical services rendered.  First symptom phone, fax notification applies!   Failure to submit a complete and timely claim will result in the claim being ineligible for credit. Registration papers or a spay/neuter certificate must be returned to us before credit can be applied.
